1. THE OPENING STATEMENT
This document sets out the environmental policy of Beagrie Co. (referred to hereafter as “the Company”).
The Company’s core business – building and renovation work – includes such activities as piling, concreting, groundworks to create foundations, tiling and roofing, brickwork, electrical work, plumbing, decoration, plastering and glazing, and using site vehicles such as diggers and dumpers. These activities can result in a variety of adverse effects on the environment, including (amongst others) damage resulting from excavation work, the production of waste materials, and the generation of noise and dust. The renovation work also has the potential to release or disturb hazardous substances such as asbestos.
The aim of the policy is to encourage staff at all levels to help to improve the Company’s environmental performance. The policy will be subject to revision as the result of factors such as environmental and other legislation, customer and supplier demand, product development, new information and changes in working practices.
By developing this policy, it is the Company’s intention to make clear our commitment to continuous improvement of our environmental performance, preventing pollution and reducing the environmental impact of our business activities. We will at all times strive to act in accordance with relevant environmental legislation, codes of practice and regulations, regarding these as setting the minimum standards of environmental performance.
